A 30-day job search plan you can actually follow
Last updated 9 October 2026
Short answer. A workable 30-day plan: week one, define your target roles and fix your résumé; week two, apply to well-matched roles and contact people; week three, prepare interviews and follow up; week four, review what replied and adjust the target.
Week 1: target and materials
- Pick one or two target roles and the places or remote terms you accept.
- Collect five postings for each; list their common requirements.
- Rewrite your summary and top bullets against those requirements.
- Write your fact sheet: salary range, notice period, authorisation.
Week 2: apply and reach out
- Apply only to roles that clear your fit bar, each tailored.
- Ask two or three people for conversations or referrals.
Week 3: interviews and follow-ups
- Follow up on week-two applications.
- Prepare your introduction and six STAR stories.
Week 4: review
- Which roles replied? Shift toward them.
- No replies at all? Widen the target or get your résumé reviewed.
