Using AI in your job search, responsibly
Last updated 9 October 2026
Short answer. AI is useful for finding postings, checking your fit, drafting tailored résumés and letters from your real experience and practising interviews. Review everything before it is sent, and never let a tool add skills, titles or results you don't have.
Good uses
- Comparing a posting's requirements to your résumé.
- Rewording real bullets in the posting's terms.
- Drafting a first version of a letter to edit.
- Generating practice interview questions.
Rules that protect you
- Every fact must come from you.
- Read every line before sending.
- Keep your own voice; edit generic phrases out.
- Check what the tool does with your data.
Automated applying
If a tool applies for you, set a minimum fit and make sure it stops when an employer asks something only you can answer. See auto-applying safely.
Questions
Will employers know I used AI?
Generic, unedited text is easy to spot; specific, true, edited text reads as yours.
Is it allowed?
Generally yes for preparing applications; follow any rules an employer states for assessments.
Conxto checks live postings against your résumé, tailors each application from your real experience and prepares the letter and answers. Copilot: you send it. Autopilot: it applies for you.
