How to answer job application screening questions
Last updated 9 October 2026
Short answer. Answer screening questions from a small set of facts you confirm once: notice period, salary expectation, work authorisation, location preference and two or three short proof stories. Reuse them word for word so every application says the same true thing.
Step by step
- Write your fact sheet. Notice period, salary range, work authorisation, where you can work, earliest start date.
- Prepare three proof stories. One result you are proud of, one hard problem, one example of working with others. Two or three sentences each.
- Match the question to a fact. Most screening questions are one of those facts in different words. Answer with the fact, then one line of context.
- Never guess. If a question needs something you have not confirmed, stop and decide it once, then add it to your fact sheet.
Questions
Should I give a salary number?
Give a range you would accept, based on the role and your market. If the form allows it, "open to discussion" with a range is fine.
How does Conxto handle screening questions?
It answers from the facts you confirmed in your profile and asks you when a question needs something new.
Conxto does this for every posting: it checks the fit, tailors from your real résumé and prepares the application. Copilot: you send it. Autopilot: it applies for you.
