What a job fit score means, and how to use it
Last updated 9 October 2026
Short answer. A job fit score estimates how much of a job posting's stated requirements your résumé actually proves. It is useful for deciding where to spend your time; it does not predict whether you will get an interview.
Step by step
- Read the requirements, not just the number. A score is only as good as its explanation. Look at which requirements matched and which are missing.
- Set a minimum. Pick a floor (for example 70 out of 100) and spend your effort on roles above it. Below it, read the missing list before deciding.
- Fix the cheap gaps. If a requirement is missing only because your résumé does not mention work you did, add that real line and check again.
- Do not chase 100. A perfect match is rare and often means the role is a step sideways. Strong fits with one or two named gaps are normal.
Questions
How does Conxto calculate its fit score?
It checks each requirement the posting states against what your résumé shows, and lists what matched and what is missing beside the score.
Is a fit score the same as an ATS score?
No. An ATS (applicant tracking system) score is a recruiter tool's keyword ranking; a fit score asks whether your experience proves the requirements.
What minimum fit should I use?
70 out of 100 is a reasonable start. Raise it if you get too many weak matches, lower it if you see too few roles.
Conxto does this for every posting: it checks the fit, tailors from your real résumé and prepares the application. Copilot: you send it. Autopilot: it applies for you.
