Good questions to ask at the end of an interview
Last updated 9 October 2026
Short answer. Ask two or three questions that help you judge the role, such as what success looks like after six months, the team's biggest current challenge and how decisions are made, then ask about next steps. Avoid questions the company's website already answers.
About the role
- "What would a great first six months look like?"
- "What's the biggest challenge the person in this role will face?"
About the team
- "How does the team decide what to work on?"
- "Who would I work with most closely?"
About the process
- "What are the next steps, and when should I expect to hear back?"
