Financial Analyst résumé example for 2026
A financial analyst CV is judged on the size of the budget you touched and the decisions your models changed. Show the forecast accuracy, the cost line you moved and the tools behind the analysis, not the fact that you built reports.

What a financial analyst résumé has to show
- Budget or revenue scale you analysed, in euros
- Forecast accuracy or variance you actually achieved
- Modelling and BI tools by name (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Anaplan)
- A decision that changed because of your analysis
Bullets you can adapt
Every one names a system or a surface, a change, and a number. Take the shape, not the figures — substitute your own and keep them defensible.
- Owned the rolling 13-week cash forecast for a €240m revenue business and held variance under 4% for 11 consecutive quarters
- Rebuilt the annual budget model for 38 cost centres, cutting the planning cycle from 10 weeks to 6
- Analysed customer profitability across 1,200 accounts and identified €3.4m of margin lost to unpriced freight
- Built a scenario model for a €18m capex programme that shifted the board to a phased two-year rollout
- Replaced 14 manual Excel reports with a Power BI model refreshed nightly, saving roughly 20 analyst hours a month
- Ran monthly variance reviews with 9 department heads and reduced unexplained spend variance from €640k to €95k
- Modelled pricing changes on 3 product lines that lifted gross margin by 2.1 points within two quarters
And the ones to cut
These are duties and adjectives. They describe a job title, not a person doing it.
- Responsible for preparing monthly management reports
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Supported the finance team with ad hoc analysis

Financial Analyst résumé questions
How much modelling detail should I put on the CV?
Name the model type and what it decided. A recruiter cannot tell a three-statement model from a formatted budget file, so write what it covered and what changed as a result. One line about a scenario model that moved a capex decision beats a list of Excel functions.
Does SQL matter for FP&A roles?
It increasingly does, and it is often the differentiator between two similar candidates. If you pull your own data, say so and name the warehouse. If you do not, do not fake it, because it is easy to test in a first interview.
Should I say which industry the numbers come from?
Yes, because €240m of SaaS revenue and €240m of retail turnover are completely different analytical jobs. Put the industry and business model in the company line so your numbers can be read at the right scale.
